Individual research expedition to conduct fieldwork in Rome, Venezia, and other areas of the Veneto region. I collected first-hand data of traditional Carlo Scarpa´s works, among them Brion tomb. I interviewed some scholars. I also conducted a thorough review of literature and archival collections, combined with a phenomenological analysis of how some features of Scarpa's work share concepts and architectural resources with Nipponese culture. It will contribute to determinate how the so-called "European Japonisme" translated into these architectural Italian master´s architectural work. The results of this exploration will enrich and transform the understanding of Carlo Scarpa's architecture and how Japanese culture framed it.
