I anledning af World AIDS Day inviterer Center for Køn, Seksualitet og Forskellighed til seminar og udstilling af aids-navnetæpper og hiv-body maps.Foredrag: “Nights in the Palace: AIDS and the Scene of Memory” ved Heather Love.
Heather Love bruger Justin Torres' historiske fiktionsroman Blackouts fra 2023 til at reflektere over institutionelle og ikke-institutionelle historier om hiv og aids (Foredraget er på engelsk).
Abstract: In this talk, I will use Justin Torres’s 2023 novel Blackouts to reflect on institutional and non-institutional histories of HIV/AIDS. The novel centers on the production of the 1941 report Sex Variants: A Study of Homosexual Patterns, by George W. Henry, tracing the stories of individuals whose “cases” featured in the book. In the novel, this landmark scientific study becomes raw material for poetry as well as anecdotes, dreams, gossip, speculation, and seduction. This dialogue between a dying older man and the much younger narrator is staged in a hospital room, invoking an iconic scene of the AIDS crisis and the impossibility and necessity of filling in the “blacked out” passages of gay history.

I de sidste par år er mange års stilhed om hiv og aids blevet afløst af dokumentarer, udgivelser, udstillinger og podcasts, der fortæller om, da hiv og aids ramte Danmark og verden. I dette panel reflekterer vi over, hvad det er vigtigt at huske. Hvad kan vi lære af hiv- og aidshistorien i dag? Og hvad må vi ikke glemme?
