Beskrivelse

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) make up the largest membrane protein family and regulate a plethora of physiological processes including sensation of odors and taste making this family of huge interest to the food industry. The G Protein-Coupled Receptors database (GPCRdb), available at gpcrdb.org, provides data, information and tools to aid in the discovery of GPCR ligands and has been a popular resource for the GPCR community for the past 20 years and today has around 1000 users every month.
The GPCRdb contains experimental data on sequences and mutations, as well as many different types of computationally derived data, such as multiple sequence alignments. Additionally, the GPCRdb provides, among other things, tools to browse X-ray structures and mutants, compare binding sites, generate amino acid conservation statistics and create custom colored diagrams. Sequence alignments and a new generic numbering system based on the available structural information have recently been introduced to be used throughout the GPCRdb.
