The project analyzes the legal implications of sustainable development pertaining to maritime law, particularly focusing on maritime contracts.

The leading research question will consider the implications of new impending contractual obligations emerging from the necessity of preventing air pollution from ships and the protection or marine environment, regarded as common interests of the international community.

The aim is to evaluate various relevant aspects of contract law, such as the interpretation of sustainability clauses in maritime contracts in order to assess their compliance with international green requirements.
