Kort præsentation

I am pharmacist/pharmaceutical scientist by training. My work lies in the cross-roads between pharmaceutics, physical chemistry and biophysical characterisation. My current focus, and the topic of my PhD, is to probe and study the gastrointestinal biomolecular corona that forms around drug particles (crystals, amorphous particles and phase seperated droplets) in the gastrointestinal tract.

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is a complex environment of varying pH, fluid composition and the molecular components of digestion. It is well established that particles adopt a biomolecular corona upon exposure to physiological fluids such as serum. In this regard, there is potential for formation of a particle-gut corona that can differ greatly in composition and will depend on the underlying chemistry of the particle. This biomolecular corona can have an effect on the solid-state chemistry (and therefore bioavailability) of the drug particles, as well the way these particles interact with the gut biology, such as immune and epithelial cells.
