Aktuel forskning

My current research has been focused on the interdisciplinary field of narrative medicine, integrating literary studies with healthcare to enhance patient care and medical education. As Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, I have led and contributed to several major projects, including interventions for chronically ill people and liver patients through creative writing, and as Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen I have expanded my scope to fertility treatment and psychiatry.

After writing two monographs on modern Danish literature (2012, 2018), I have co-edited international anthologies such as Narrative Medicine in Education, Practice, and Interventions (2022) and Narrative Medicine: Trauma and Ethics (2024), both with forewords by leading scholars in the field.

My forthcoming monograph on postcritical medical humanities will conceptualise a new direction for the field and explore Scandinavian literary representations of illness across three centuries combined in combination with chapters on the therapeutic potential of creative writing with patients or vulnerable people and the empathetic value of narrative medicine courses in medical education.
