Andreas Røder is a Clinical Professor of Urology at Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen.
Dr. Røder is a board-certified specialist in Urology and serves as Senior Consultant at Department of Urology, Rigshospitalet.
He graduated from the University of Copenhagen as Medical Doctor (MD) in 2008, and as Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2013.
Dr. Røder’s research is primarily focused on enhancing prostate cancer care through interdisciplinary research approaches, including epidemiology, clinical trials, translational sciences and genetics. He is responsible for comprehensive national prostate cancer databases and is the Principal Investigator of multiple international clinical trials, many of which have changed the treatment algorithm for prostate cancer patients.
Dr. Røder participates in multiple research networks, including Scandinavian Prostate Cancer Group, European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer and the PRACTICAL Consortium which has identified >200 genes associated with inherited prostate cancer and uncovered 60% of the genetic disposition to the disease.
Dr. Røder acts as Head of the Urological Research Unit at Rigshospitalet. In this position, he has significantly broadened the scope of the unit’s research portfolio through the continuation of ambitious prostate cancer research and the initiation of randomized clinical trials in kidney transplantation, bladder cancer, and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
In his clinical work, Dr. Røder primarily takes care of patients with prostate cancer in weekly outpatient clinics and during surgical procedures.
