Carsten Nico Hjortsø is Associate Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He has about 20 years of experience in management research, teaching and capacity building. Carsten Nico Hjortsø's current research interests cover sustainable transition, business development, entrepreneurship, institutional change, capacity building and curriculum development. In the period 2004-2010, he was employed as a project manager for the Danida-funded Forest management in Bolivia (FOMABO) capacity-building project. From 2014 to 2016, he is the project manager of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Copenhagen, a project aimed at pedagogical development in entrepreneurship and innovation teaching. He is the author of several papers on qualitative approaches to complex problem-solving, business development in developing countries, and capacity building published in academic journals. Carsten Nico Hjortsø has supervised eight PhDs and more than 30 MSc projects.

External assignments and consultancy Co-organizer and teacher on courses in Stakeholder Analysis and Public Participation (Malaysia), Natural Resource Management, Project Management, and Systems Thinking (Vietnam), and project evaluation workshop (Nepal, Tanzania).
