Kort præsentation

I hold a PhD in Medicine, Culture & Society from the Section of General Practice at the University of Copenhagen and a Master’s degree in Public Health. My research focuses on how health information is produced, communicated, and interpreted, with particular attention to social media, direct-to-consumer marketing, and evidence-based medicine. I am particularly interested in how digital media environments reshape patient engagement, health decision-making, and the boundaries between professional medical knowledge and public discourse.

My current research interests include:

  • Direct-to-consumer medicine and marketing, particularly on social media platforms
  • The circulation and impact of online health information
  • Evidence-based medicine and its translation into practice and public communication
  • Medical screening, including ethical implications and potential harms such as overdiagnosis
  • The experiential dimensions of health and online information

During my PhD, I examined breast cancer screening, with a specific focus on false-positive results and overdiagnosis. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, including ethnographic approaches, I explored how potential harms of screening are communicated, understood, and negotiated in both clinical encounters and broader public discourse.

I serve on the scientific committee of Preventing Overdiagnosis and am the chair of its Early and Mid-Career Researchers Group and the Guideline Section at The Danish College of General Practitioners (Dansk Selskab for Almen Medicin).

I teach biostatistics, test accuracy theory, and evidence-based medicine.
