Personlig profil

Primære forskningsområder

I am a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Histories of Migration specialized in the following topics, perspectives, methods, and regions:

  • Fugitive Histories of Migration in the Context of Colonialism/-ity
  • Border(lands), Citizenship and Belonging
  • Inequality and Intersectionality
  • Ethnography and Historical Research
  • Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, United States

Aktuel forskning

Besides publishing several articles on my fields of expertise and interest, I am currently writing a second monograph that reconstructs the fugitive histories embedded in Fort Allen, a U.S. military base in Puerto Rico. Temporarily repurposed in the early 1980s as a detention center for Haitian refugees deported from Florida after crossing the Caribbean Sea in flimsy boats, this colonial and militarized space became a testing ground for the offshoring of refugee detention – a practice that has since proliferated worldwide.
