Kort præsentation

Henrik Kehlet var professor i kirurgi ved Københavns Universitet og er nu professor i kirurgisk patofysiologi på Rigshospitalet, Københavns Universitet. Han er æresmedlem i bl.a. Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK, American College of Surgeons, American Surgical Association, German Surgical Society og German Anaesthesiological Society. Professor Kehlets forskning har fokuseret på kirurgisk patofysiologi, akut smertefysiologi og –behandling, overgang fra akut til kronisk smerte, postoperativ træthed og organdysfunktion. Disse bestræbelser er blevet sammenfattet i konceptet "fast track kirurgi" med henblik på at opnå den ”smerte- og risikofri operation”. Professor Kehlet har publiceret over 1200 videnskabelige artikler og er blevet inviteret til mere end 300 gæsteforelæsninger på internationale videnskabelige konferencer, herunder mange navngivne æresforelæsninger.

Scientific publications: > 1,250 articles, predominantly within the topics of surgical pathophysiology, acute pain physiology and treatment, the surgical stress response, regional anaesthesia, postoperative fatigue, postoperative immunofunction, fluid management, cognitive function and perioperative morbidity. The research results have been condensed into the concept of “Fast-track surgery” or “Enhanced recovery”, which has achieved worldwide attention and implementation.
