Kort præsentation

My research area is forest pathology, where I investigate tree-pathogen relationships. I use molecular biology, DNA and RNA sequencing to understand trees, tree disease and the tree-microbiome relationship. Recently my focus has been on Ash Dieback disease in European ash (Fraxinus excelsior) caused by the invasive fungal pathogen Hymenscyphus fraxineus. The aim of this investigation is to identify the genomic basis of tolerance to ash dieback and find the molecular mechanisms involved in tolerance. Previously I worked on the genomics and transcriptomics of bacterial pathogens of oak (Quercus spp.), which contribute to Acute Oak Decline. Investigations on oak firstly revealed the causative agents of disease and an interaction between bacterial pathogens and a native insect Agrilus bigutttus leading to increased disease. This research was based at Bangor University in the U.K.
