Kort præsentation

Forest Geneticist and tree breeder with a focus on improving the economic and resistance traits of forest trees through innovative approaches.

Traditional tree breeding methods take about 25 years to complete a single breeding cycle for conifers. My research is aiming at developing faster solutions for the increasing threats from biotic or abiotic stressors due to climate change. I have utilized the breeding without breeding (BWB) techniques to perform pedigree reconstruction in production stands using DNA markers such as microsatellites, Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). This approach has enabled the development of more efficient and effective breeding strategies for minor tree species.

Furthermore, I am interested in understanding the genetics of tree-pathogen-insect-environment interactions to enable better breeding strategies to improve resistance traits. By identifying the environmental conditions such as shade, rainfall, and temperature on parasites, non-chemical parasites control strategies could be developed in practice. The genetics of tree-parasites interactions can also help identify which trees are most susceptible to pests or diseases.

Lastly, I am establishing an innovative phenotyping method that explores drought stress precisely and rapidly in forest trees by utilizing near-surface remote sensing observations in forest sites.
