Kort præsentation

Det primære fokus for min forskning er ionkanaler og de elektriske strømme i hjertet.

Min gruppe arbejder med udbredelsen af de elektriske signaler gennem Purkinje fibrene og stimulerer hjertets sammentrækning. Der er store artsforskelle i Purkinje fibrenes udbredelse, og derved i måden de elektriske signaler spredes i hjertet, Vi undersøger hvordan det afspejles på EKG målinger.

Medfødte ændringer i de elektriske signaler kan medfører hjerterytmeforstyrrelser og hjertesvigt. Vi har i samarbejde med kardiologer karakteriseret adskillige genetiske varianter fundet hos patienter. Enkelte af disse varianter har vi induceret i stamceller, for yderligere at kunne undersøge deres funktion og teste forskellige medikamenter.

Vi er altid interesserede i nye samabejder, også på mere basal karakteristik af ionkanal funktion, og studerende er altid velkomne til at høre om mulige projekter

Undervisnings- og vejledningsområder

Jeg vejleder i praktiske og teoretiske opgaver inden for det kardiovaskulære område. Eksperimentelt fokuserer jeg på elektrofysiologiske teknikker, herunder målinger af aktionspotentialer og ionstrømme i forskellige celletyper, herunder isolerede hjerteceller. Jeg vejleder gerne Bachelor-, Speciale- og PhD-projekter. Kontakt mig for yderligere information om mulige projekter.
