About Laura

Laura Valtere is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Bioscience Innovation Law (CeBIL) within the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen.

Her expertise lies in patent law and regulatory frameworks, particularly in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She has worked extensively on the role of exclusivity as an incentive tool.

Laura's academic background is equally distinguished, with a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. Her dissertation, entitled 'Personalised Medicine - Incentives from exclusivities provided by IP and regulatory law', highlights her in-depth knowledge and research acumen. She also holds an LL.M. in European and International Business Law (Munich), reinforcing her strong foundation in this area.

In addition to her role as a legal advisor at the Ministry of Justice, Laura's previous experience includes a position as a research fellow at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where she conducted legal research on patent law and pandemic preparedness. She has also worked as an R&D specialist at the University of Luxembourg, where she conducted cutting-edge research on digital governance and AI regulation.

She is a docent and guest lecturer at the Riga Graduate School of Law and the University of Latvia.

In addition, Laura was a junior researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, where she contributed to high-impact, cutting-edge legal research in the field of intellectual property law, in particular pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent law and regulatory frameworks.
