Member of the research group Geomorphology, Processes and Landscapes

My current research interests are: 1) Geomorphology and evolution of coastal environments, landscape reconstruction, mechanisms (morphology, sea level and storms) controlling coastal evolution. Most of my research has been carried out in the Wadden Sea with a focus on better understanding the impact of climate changes, sea-level rise, increased storminess, coastal squeeze on barrier islands, tidal flats and salt marshes. 2) In recent years I have been involved in research in plastic pollution in coastal and marine environments, dynamics of micro and macroplastic  in relation to flocculation and settling processes, influence of marine biota on transport and sedimentation.
