Kort præsentation

I am a community health psychologist applying related theories to understand and address the social and structural factors that influence engagement with health services and support psychosocial well-being and care at a community level. My work spans a range of global health challenges, including HIV, climate change, and migration. I am particularly interested in involving underserved and socially marginalised groups in research—especially children and young people—in order to challenge dominant narratives and ensure that interventions are responsive to their lived experiences.

I received my PhD in Psychology from the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2009. Prior to that I received my MSc from University College London and BSc from the LSE. Before joining the University of Copenhagen, I worked for Save the Children UK.

I work as an associate editor of two leading childhood journals, Children's Geographies and Vulnerable Children and Youth Studies, and sit on the editorial board of the Health Education Journal. I am also a board member of Tuborgfondet, a youth-focused and grant-giving foundation.

  • Participatory research with forcibly displaced persons in South Sudan and Uganda to understand how mobility affects their chronic disease care (PI, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, 2022-2027) project website
  • Participatory research with children and young people in Tanzania to understand their experiences, struggles and ways of coping with the climate crisis, at home and in their communities (PI, funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2021-2026) project website
  • Harnessing male peer networks to enhance engagement with HIV prevention (Co-I, funded by the National Institutes of Health, US, 2023-2028)
  • Intervention study co-creating guidelines and associated training to accelerate reproductive and newborn health in Tanzania (CO-I, funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2019-2029) project website

I am the course convenor of a qualitative research methods course for bachelor students and supervise dissertation and thesis work in my areas of expertise.
