Kort præsentation

Paul Robert Hansen earned his MS degree in Chemistry from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1990. He was then a Research Assistant at the Department of Chemistry, Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (KVL) for two years.
From 1993-1994, he was a visiting Ph.D.-student in the laboratory of Professor George Barany at the Department of Chemistry, University of Minnesota
In 1996, he received his Ph.D., from the Department of Chemistry, Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, focusing on "New strategies in the synthesis of 2-acetamido-alpha–D–2-deoxy-glucopyranose O-Glycopeptides, neoglycoconjugates and photoreactive peptides"

In 1997, he joined the Department of Chemsitry, Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, as an Assistant Professor of Bioorganic Chemistry. He became an Associate Professor in 2000.
In February 2012, he joined the Natural Products and Peptides Research Group, Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (previously Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences), University of Copenhagen.

Scientific achievements and Research interest:

From 2001, he has been an independent scientist, heading his own research group first at IGM-Bioorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen and from 2012 at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. PRH has an extensive documented experience in the field of peptide medicinal chemistry. PRHs research efforts mainly lie within i) peptide-based antibiotics, ii) peptides as probes in immunology and Calcitonin gene-related peptide analogues for treatment of glaucoma. PRH has co-authored 125+ scientific publications in the field of peptide chemistry/bioorganic chemistry. He is the editor of Methods in Molecular Biology: Antimicrobial Peptides published in 2017. Furthermore, PRH is Editorial Board Member for Antibiotics and Reviewer for Innovation Fund Denmark etc, AAC, J. Med. Chem. etc.

Research management:

From 2008-2013, PRH was a member of EPI-EXPOSE funded by the Danish Advanced Technology Foundation, Work package leader and member of steering commitee). From 2010-2015, he was a member of DANCARD (Danish Center for Antibiotic Research and Development) an interdisciplinary collaboration funded the Danish Council for Strategic Research. From 2012-2016, PRH was a partner in FP7-PEOPLE-2011-ITN TRAIN-ASAP (“Training Research AImed at Novel Antibacterial Strategies in Animals and People”, Work package leader and member of steering commitee). Furthermore, he was a partner in University of Copenhagen Research Centre for Control of Antibiotic Resistance UC-CARE.Currently and “Antimicrobial peptides seen by neutrons” funded by Nordforsk.
