Sanni Hansen was educated as a veterinarian in 2008 (DVM) at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Department of Large Animal Sciences. She defended her PhD in 2014 within the area of Internal Medicine, dealing with healthy aging (especially immune-aging) of the equine lower airway immune cells and signaling molecules. She has been working primarily with horses and translational research using the horse as a model for human asthma.

 

Her main research interests are airway and performance related research. She has experience in both clinical and immunology research in the areas of airway related problems, age-related diseases and all aspects of equine poor performance.

 

Sannis working hours are divided between research and teaching veterinary students in large animal internal medicine, both lectures and clinical rotations in the hospital. She also participates in the daily and emergency clinical work in the large Animal Hospital.
