I grew up just outside Copenhagen, in 1998 I started studying Biochemistry at University of Copenhagen, then Human Biology and finalized my PhD from Rigshospitalet in 2008. I’ve been working diverse topics: Endocrine disruptors, testicular cancer, diet induced obesity, gut microbiota, cervical cancer and now I’m back at KU working with gut barrier dysfunction.

My main passion is on the technical side. – I love molecular biology, optimizing and implementing new techniques. I started out doing cell culturing and mass spec and since moved on to immunohistochemistry, histological stainings, laser capture microdissection, microarrays, NGS, mouse work incl. live imaging, Western blotting, ELISA assays, primary cell culturing and development of clonal cell lines, Seahorse, methylation analyses, a number of different PCR techniques, library prep for sequencing and most recently FISH. I off course also picked up some experience in data analysis and wish I had more time to develop my skills in R and Python.

In 2023 I joined Benjamin Jensen’s research group. I love the dynamic, international atmosphere with a continuous flow of new bright students that are enthusiastic and eager to learn.

When I’m not working I have an old house with a wonderful garden that keeps me busy. – But most of my time is spent with my kids, cheering at soccer tournaments and bicycle races or just baking and playing board games at home.
