My specific area is 'Patient-oriented medicines' meaning transforming clinical, often predominantly bio-medical practice into a social one where patients' life context is systematically considered to guide decisions on medicines use. I work interdisciplinary with practioners, patients and researchers from the field of humanities to achieve these aims. Current projects are:

1. In collaboration with Danish universities, pharmacies and patient organizations to enhance patient centered support in community pharmacy to patients receiving medicines for anxiety and depression
2. In collaboration with Danish and European universities, non-profitable research organizations, SMEs and patient organizations to develop new patient centric practices related to ‘medication adherence’
3. In collaboration with WHO Europe to develop a survey instrument to measure enforcement activities of the prohibition of selling antibiotics over the counter in South-East European countries

Some of the achievements in relation to these topics are:

- based on research grants from the Association of Danish Pharmacies, EIT Health and Velux HUM-Praxis, a new post-curriculum education for half of all pharmacies in Denmark in the patient centered communication technique of 'mentalizing'

- through contracts with WHO Europe and the The National Institute for Health and Welfare, FI, a research protocol to explore daily behaviours of antibiotic use among doctors, pharmacists and patients; which have been used in 13 European countries.
