My research is focused on understandinghow best to help people with diabetes managing the dual demands of managing thier diabetes and optimising their emotional-well-being.  I work closely with the Steno Diabetes Centre, Gentofte, with the Diabetes Management Group to understand how we can provide tools and programs for health care professionals, to support people with diabetes.

Current projects include:

Explore the culturall appropriateness of a Diabetes Self-Management Education program for Aboriginal Australians in Western Australia.

Exploring the benefits of DIY Closed Loop insulin management systems for people with type 1 diabetes.

Exploring the interactions between sleep quality, diabetes and depression.

Exploring the relationship between paediatric clinical microsystems and the outcomes of diabetes care for children and adolescents with diabetes.

Current PhD Students include

Patricia - exploring how to best meet the psycho-social needs of children and parents newlt diagnosed with type 1 diabetes

Regitze - exploring the development and tranisitions in automony for diabetes management in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes

Jo - exploring the effectiveness of intensive play therpay for children

Kate - exploring the relationship between facillaitors use of behaviour change strategies and individauls changes in health behaviour

Ramya - exploring the effectiveness of yoga for the prevention of type 2 diabetes
