Background

I obtained a Ph.D. in 1995 from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. My thesis focused on the geology, petrography, geochemistry and geochronology of a region of relatively unstudied granitic rocks on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. I then had a 2 year post-doc at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia working on the geochemistry and petrology of Ruapehu Volcano (NZ) and Lachlan Fold Belt Granites (Australia). I then moved to Copenhagen Denmark where I had several postdocs at the Danish Lithosphere Centre working on a variety of projects including granites in Maine, the geochemistry of Icelandic Basalts, and the Central East Greenland Igneous Province. This included a 6 month sojourn to the University of Maryland in the USA. My postdoc migrated into several years as lab manager for the DLC's Axiom multi-collector ICPMS (now deceased). I was hired as Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen in 2003 and promoted to Professor in 2014.  

Research Interests

Igneous Petrology, high-temperature geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, geochronology, volcanism, regional tectonics, age and origin of the continental crust, mineral chemistry.
