Between Form and Formlessness: Thinking Council Democracy with Cornelius Castoriadis, Hannah Arendt and Claude Lefort

Analyze various historical attempts to establish alternative, autonomous political communities beside and beyond the existing institutions of the state and representational channels of participation as well as the theoretical and political struggle on the interpretation of such alternative institutions and practices. Specifically, I engaged with the council democratic (council socialism or council communism) movement in interwar Europe as well as the 20th century political theory on the councils, especially in the political thought of Hannah Arendt, Cornelius Castoriadis and Claude Lefort.
