Abstract
Introduction: Patients with chronic bronchitis (CB) usually experiences excessive mucus production, which causes increased exacerbation risk, and quality-of-life (QoL) impairment. Bronchial Rheoplasty (BR) is a novel treatment for patients with CB, it involves an endobronchial catheter that applies electrical impulses to the goblet cells in the airways to reduce mucus production.
Method: In Denmark we treated 16 patients. Work up included lung plethysmography and COPD Assessment Test (CAT) Score. One lung was treated at a time, each lung treated four weeks apart. Follow up was done 3 months after the last treatment, where a lung plethysmography and CAT-score were done as well.
Results: 16 patients were treated in the period from April 2022 to September 2023.
