Abstract

Meningioma in older cats is a common and often benign brain tumor. Symptoms can be overlooked in the early stages of the disease. However, even with more pronounced neurological signs from a benign meningioma, the prognosis for the patient is good, provided the tumor is anatomically accessible for surgery and the cat does not have other serious comorbidities. Older cats with clinical signs of a space-occupying process should therefore always be offered examination with advanced imaging diagnostics MRI/CT, where MRI in particular can distinguish between meningioma and other brain tumors that have a poor prognosis.
