Abstract
Plant cell walls have been explored and described since the end of the 19th century, most notably concerning their biochemical and structural characteristics. This chapter reviews the current status of how cell wall components are trafficked in the cell. It begins with an overview of the plant membrane trafficking system to familiarize the reader with its different paths and elements, and highlights those tracks necessary for cell wall formation. The chapter then focuses on the cell wall components of typical plant cells, and examines how they use the trafficking system to reach their final destinations.
