N2 - We demonstrate spin squeezing in a room temperature ensemble of1012 Cesium atoms using their internal structure,where the necessary entanglement is created between nuclear andelectronic spins of each individual atom. This state providesimprovement in measurement sensitivity beyond the standard quantumlimit for quantum memory experiments and applications in quantummetrology and is thus a complementary alternative to spinsqueezing obtained via inter-atom entanglement. Squeezing of thecollective spin is verified by quantum state tomography.
