Abstract
Enzymes have a unique ability to accelerate chemical processes. The goal of our research is to optimize enzymes based on cyclodextrin. The artificial enzymes we have designed are all based on cyclodextrins, which are ring-forming molecules composed of six to eight glucose monomers. This review outlines how derivatized cyclodextrins can be used as epoxidases, oxidases and glucosidases. Future research will investigate the possibility of using cyclodextrin-based enzymes to decompose and thereby render toxic glycosides neutral.
