Abstract
There exist numerous examples of how the Andalusi intellectual production has spread in space and time thanks to the commentaries written by other ʻulamā’ on the works produced by Andalusi authors. This is one of those examples. In this contribution I analyse the way in which modern (early nineteenth century in this case) Ethiopian ʻulamā’ gained access to Ibn Faraḥ’s poem on ʻilm al-ḥadīṯ, given that their textual tradition —produced in Arabic— has only started to be studied recently.
