Personal profile

Short presentation

Dr. Audrey Lebret investigates the interactions between new technologies, biomedicine and human rights.

At CeBIL, she is working on AI@Care, a collaborative project with data scientists to identify sources of bias and discrimination in healthcare algorithms, with the aim to develop guidelines to prevent them. In particular, she investigates the notion of discrimination in international and comparative law as legal constraints playing on the elaboration of algorithms. AI@Care is funded by the first Data+ funding programme of Copenhagen University.

In parallel, Audrey is a co-PI for the SHS and biolaw parts on the CREATIC project, a Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence project, which focuses on undiagnosed untreatable rare diseases, paediatric patients with high-risk tumours, and adult cancer patients suitable for Advanced Therapy Medical Products.

Among other topics in international and comparative law, her prior research concerned the interactions between human rights in organ transplantation norms. She also worked on end-of-life decision making, right to try experimental treatments in Europe and the US, reproductive technologies and reproductive rights, privacy and the internet, same-sex marriage etc.

Audrey studied and worked in Europe, the United States, South America and Aotearoa New Zealand. Her education is both in law and in management. Before joining UCPH, Audrey taught for five years at French universities and has been assistant professor at the faculty of law of the University of Bordeaux. She also worked on a microfinance project in Brazil and at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague.

Audrey is an Associate Research Member, International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology (OBVIA), and the Paris Human Rights Center (CRDH- Université Paris Panthéon-Assas).
