Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, December 26, 1944. Masters Degree in Psychology, University of Copenhagen, 1970. Dr.Phil. in Psychology, University of Copenhagen, 1988. Professor of Visual Cognition at the University of Copenhagen 1995. Head of Deparment of Psychology 2006-2014.

Current research
Visual short term memory is limited in terms of number of objects (ususally 3-4) that can be retained, and with respect to how they may be transformed with respect to shape. The interaction between visual attention, which control entry into short-term memory, visual transformations of encoded objects, and our limited short-term memory capacity is investigated experimentally and by computer simulations.
