Personal profile

Short presentation

I'm a historian of twentieth-century Europe, specialising in the cultural politics of the interwar period and especially 1930s Spain. My research interests include the relationship between aesthetic and political representation, identity creation, and the construction of imagined communities within and beyond the nation-state. To date my work has focused particularly on the mobilising as well as critical function of “culture” in twentieth-century projects of progressive social change.

At Copenhagen University, I explore these themes, from a transnational perspective, as a postdoctoral researcher on the project Foreign Fighters: Past, Present and Future.
