Personal profile

Primary fields of research

I am the group leader of The Plant Hologenomics Group (https://globe.ku.dk/research/hologenomics/4122044/). I believe that plants and thier microbes evolved together. However, during the recent domestication of crops, the addition of fertilisers and water led to no selection for the microbiome, leading to 'lazy' crop microbiomes. In my group, we are working towards making crops cultivate better microbiomes, so that fewer fertilisers and water need to be applied. To do this, we look at wild crop relatives and combine them strategically with modern crops.
