Research Areas

Perioperative Optimization of Patients
My research focuses on optimizing patient care in the surgical pathway, including:

  • Postoperative Pain Management: Aiming to systematically build evidence for effective multimodal pain management after surgery.
  • Nerve Blocks: Investigating the preoperative and postoperative use of nerve blocks as either primary anesthesia or as an adjunct to pain management.
  • Delirium Prevention: Covering both pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies, including programs to enhance knowledge about delirium, screening high-risk patients, and implementing preventive measures.

My methodological approaches include randomized clinical trials, biobank studies, systematic reviews, cohort studies, and qualitative methods.

Prehospital Research
Within the field of prehospital care, my focus is on:

  • Trauma Management: Specifically, the assessment and treatment of patients outside the hospital setting, including opportunities for treatment at home.
  • Ultrasound as a Diagnostic Tool: Investigating the use of prehospital ultrasound to improve diagnostics, identify patients suitable for home-based treatment, and thereby reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.
