Short presentation

Office hours: Mondays 12:00-13:00

I conduct research from an integrated experimental approach and my overall research focus is the interdisciplinary study of pharmacological manipulations of the serotonin (5-HT) system. I mainly focus on neuropsychopharmacological effects of the serotonin 2A receptor (5-HT2AR) agonist psilocybin, which is a psychedelic compound that is emerging as a promising novel therapeutic for neuropsychiatric disorders. I train students and clinicians in safe administration of psilocybin and furthermore study the importance of extra-pharmacological factors, e.g., use of music and therapeutic setting on the psychological effects of the compound. To understand how 5-HT more broadly is involved in neurocognition in the healthy and disordered brain, I also study associations of various 5-HT receptors using PET imaging, i.e., 5-HT2AR, 5-HT4R, 5-HTT and 5-HT1BR with personality and neurocognition.
