Short presentation

Federica is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Climate Change Law and Governance (CLIMA) at the University of Copenhagen. Her interest gravitates around environmental law, especially ocean, climate change and biodiversity law.

Her PhD research focuses on the regulation of ocean carbon sinks (conservation and enhancement) in international climate change, ocean and biodiversity law and governance.

Federica holds a single-cycle degree (laurea magistrale) in Law from the University of Turin, Italy, an LL.M. in Public International Law (environmental law and law of the sea specialisation) from Utrecht University, The Netherlands, and an LL.M. from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark,.

Prior to starting her PhD, she has worked for different organisations in the areas of coastal management, marine conservation and offshore wind.

Current research

Federica's PhD project, supervised by Associate Prof. Beatriz Martinez Romera (primary supervisor) and Associate Prof. Amnon Lev, explores the interaction between international climate change law, ocean law and biodiversity law, focusing on the regulation (conservation and enhancement) of ocean carbon sinks. The preliminary title for the project is: Towards the regulation of ocean carbon sinks: regime interaction in climate change, ocean and biodiversity law.

Teaching

Federica teaches in the BA course of International Law, and in courses related to her area of expertise, such as the LLM course Climate Change and the Law and International Environmental Law. She is happy to supervise bachelor's and master's theses in the fields of law of the sea, environmental law, and climate change law.

Knowledge of languages

Federica is fluent in Italian (native speaker) and English. She has a good understanding of Danish, which she is currently learning (upper-intermediate level).
