Privacy in Early Modern political thought. Privacy in shaping public knowledge.

Chatsworth case 17th century: Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) at Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall, with an emphasis on the private intellectual life through a reconstruction of the library and privacy in Hobbes's political thought.

Short presentation

Franco-Danish intellectual historian. After completing degrees in law from the University of Paris 1 and in political science from the University of Copenhagen, Frank received his PhD in history from the European University Institute. He has been a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley, and LMU München. His doctoral work was published in History of European Ideas and Global Intellectual History. As a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Privacy Studies Frank works on notions of privacy in and around Early Modern political and legal thought. His focus, besides Hermann Conring in Helmstedt, is on Hobbes at Chatsworth.
