Personal profile

Short presentation

Hartwig R. Siebner is heading the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre and the “Control of Action” (ContAct) reseach group which is sponsored by a five-year Excellence grant by the Lundbeckfonden (2011-2015). His research focuses on the question how the human brain generates and optimizes actions. To this end, he combines advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain with transcranial stimulation techniques to study causal interactions within motor brain systems and to trace sensorimotor plasticity. Being a board-certified Neurologist his clinical research interest mainly focuses on the pathophysiology of movement disorders such as Parkinson disease or focal dystonia. Besides, he is involved in numerous collaborative research projects at Copenhagen University which use multimodal MRI to study the function and structure of human brain networks.
