Primary fields of research

My philosophical research interests are within the science areas of medical technologies, diagnosticating, radiology, and interpretation, with emphasis on embodied cognition, visual perception, and Artificial intelligence.

Knowledge of languages

English, Norwegian, Danish (fluent), a little Portuguese and Spanish (understanding).

Teaching

I am course manager of theory of science and ethics for cand.scient.san. (master), and molecular biomedicine (bachelor). I supervise bachelor, master and PhD students on topics in areas like philosophy of science, epistemology, philosophy of technology, visual perception, philosophy of time, subjectivity and objectivity, interpretation/hermeneutics in medical practice.

Current research

Currently I am researching the problem of perception- and cognition (the interpretative nature of human cognition) in radiological diagnostization, with emphasis on embodied cognition and enactivism, in addition Artificial Intelligence.

Short presentation

I have a BA and MA in philosophy from Oslo and a PhD in philosophy of science from RUC. I have been employed at the Department of Health Services Research, Institute of Public Health Sciences, since 2007, where I am an associate professor in the philosophy of medical science and technology. I am particularly interested in the body-brain dynamic, interaction with society and the world around us, and what influences our actions and decisions. My philosophical "stance" is influenced by Zen Buddhist philosophy, Martin Heidegger, Friedrich Nietzsche, David Hume, hermeneutics, and neurophenomenology, to name a few sources of inspiration.
