Personal profile

Short presentation

My primary field of research is long term educational change and particularly how organizational factors such as teaching cultures work to change or sustain teaching practices in science education. From my work with many different development projects working to influence science education from individual schools to entire municipalities, I have discovered systemic factors that influence teaching change processes and used this knowledge to design projects aimed at sustainable change. I am currently engaged in a number of action research projects aiming at developing professional learning communities in local schools through municipal support systems including sustained political engagement.

My research has primarily focused on primary and lower secondary education and the professional development of teacher at these levels, but I have work with levels of education from kindergarten to adult education.
