Jan Støvring, a landscape architect (MDL, PhD), is a senior staff member in the Section for Landscape Architecture and Planning within the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management , Section for Landscape Architecture and Planning at the University of Copenhagen. Since 2022, he has served as Head of Studies for the Bachelor of Science program in Landscape Architecture.

After six years of professional practice, Jan Støvring transitioned to academia in 2008, completing his PhD from 2012 to 2017. His research focuses on addressing the challenges associated with urban development, emphasizing innovative design solutions to mitigate issues such as urban congestion and climate change. He specializes in sustainable stormwater management, with particular expertise in the design of permeable pavements, the promotion of circular economy principles, and the creation of sustainable landscapes.

In both his academic and professional practice, Jan has cultivated a unique skill set in urban and landscape design, which he applies extensively in teaching and supervising undergraduate and master’s students. His comprehensive knowledge of urban design, landscape architecture, and detailing significantly enhances his educational contributions. He teaches a variety of courses within the undergraduate Landscape Architecture program and coordinates student internships, facilitating practical, hands-on learning opportunities.
