Research - Summary

Janne Skakon is Assistant Professor in Work & Organisational Psychology, at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen. As assistant professor, she did hold a managerial role as programme coordinator in work and organizational psychology (BA) for 3 years, and participates actively in a number of working committees in the Department as well in a broader university context, both with colleagues, Advisory Board and other stakeholders. She has worked as a labour market researcher and research fellow at the Danish National Research Centre for the Working Environment, and as visiting researcher at the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR). Her research areas relate to leadership, organisation, change, innovation, psycho-social work environment, including bullying, sickness absence and return to work (RTW), and interventions. She obtained a PhD degree in Organisational Psychology on “Stress dynamics between leaders and employees and stress prevention from an organisational perspective”, received a Scolarship and a Certificate of Excellence issued by the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) for an elaboration of a RTW project for the Australian Railways with emphasis on integrating stakeholders in designing interventions. Besides her research career, she has been lecturing for several years, at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen, the Copenhagen Business School, and the Metropolitan University College. Further, she worked as an organizational psychologist and consultant for PA Consulting Group for 7½ years, an experience that is well-reflected in her research and academic work.
