Primary fields of research

Jens Dolin is professor emeritus at Department of Science Education at the University of Copenhagen. His research areas are teaching and learning science (with focus on the development of competencies) and organizational change (reform processes, curriculum development, and teacher conceptions). He has participated in and been leader for a number of Danish and international science education research projects (including FP7-projects such as Mind The Gap, S-TEAM about inquiry based science education, and ASSIST-ME about assessment in science, technology and mathematics education) and is member of a number of Danish and international boards and organizations.

After a long career as high school teacher in physics and geography (involving development work and part time teaching at university) he gradually drifted into research and employment in higher education and involvement in educational policy with emphasis on science education.

 

Teaching experience

He has taught at all educational levels, the last ten years mainly at tertiary level. He has supervised many master students and PhD students and developed and taught courses in
