My research is focused on how the brain and the rest of the central nervous system control our movements, but also how the brain is affected by the activities we engage in (learning, physical activity, physical inactivity).
The main focus of the research relates to learning and in particular motor skill learning and the underlying mechanisms. In recent years, in addition to focusing on neuroplasticity and motor learning, we in the research group have increased our focus on the effects of physical training and inactivity and how these factors affect the central nervous system.
We investigate the effects of training on motor learning, memory, neuroplasticity and functional abilities throughout life - i.e. in children, young and older adults, and also in patient groups with a special focus on neurological diseases.
