I am a PhD student at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen, where I work in the “Data and Modelling” research group. Additionally, I am part of the
My PhD research focuses on antimicrobial use in pig production and the impact of legislation and regulatory initiatives on antimicrobial consumption.
With a background in pig nutrition, gut health, animal welfare, herd management, and alternatives to antibiotics, I consider myself a pig production generalist. I am particularly interested in the intersection between biology, animal welfare, policy, and production management, and in how scientific evidence can contribute to a healthy, productive, and welfare-oriented pig sector in Denmark.

The aim of my PhD project is to investigate how legislation and regulatory initiatives have influenced antimicrobial use in conventional Danish pig production. Using both qualitative and quantitative epidemiological methods, I seek insight into decision-making processes, documentation and constrictions associated with antimicrobial treatments for pigs. Additionally, I will use national register data from VetStat and Dynamic Linear Models to examine possible patterns in antimicrobial consumption and to evaluate the effects of policy interventions aimed at promoting responsible antimicrobial use. |
I have teaching experience from lectures, theoretical and practical exercises, and field-based teaching activities in collaboration with pig herds and feed companies.
I contribute to teaching for both the Animal Science and Veterinary Science programmes at the University of Copenhagen. My teaching covers topics related to animal nutrition, physiology, pig production, herd health, plus professional communication and development at both BSc and MSc level.
Courses I have contributed to:
• Ernæringsfysiologi (BSc Animal Science)
• Dyrs Ernæring og Præstation (BSc Animal Science)
• Praktisk Besætningsrådgivning og Kødkontrol (MSc Veterinary Science)
• Akademia (BSc Veterinary Science)
