Personal profile

Short presentation

My research focuses on artistic and technical avant-gardes and their interactions with evolving mechanisms of social control amidst twentieth-century processes of decolonization and globalization. My current postdoctoral project examines how kinetic and post-constructivist artistic networks in 1960–70s Europe incorporated the epistemological revolutions of modern physics to decentre hegemonic frameworks of knowledge. I previously completed a PhD at the University of Manchester comprising a monographic study of Karachi-born, London-based artist Rasheed Araeen’s practice between the 1950s and 1970s, which I am developing as a book project.
