Personal profile

Short presentation

Primary fields of research

Medical anthropology and Medical Science and Technology Studies.
My research explores how the introduction of new medical technologies and changing health policies shape medical care and decision-making practices in the Danish health care system. I conduct ethnographic fieldwork in health care settings, exploring how patients, relatives and health professionals understand and experience health and illness in the everyday clinical practices. My PhD research investigated negotiations of the value of life by attending to life and death decision-making in the field of neonatology.

Current research

Currently, I am researcher at VIVE - The Danish Centre of Applied Social Science and assistant professor at the Section for Health Services Research, Department of Public Health. My current research explores how personalized medicine emerges and is practiced and experienced in the field of diabetes and in classic clinical genetics. This research project forms part of the larger project 'Personalized Medicine in the Welfare State', MeInWe, headed by Professor Mette N. Svendsen. Read more about MeInWe here.
