Personal profile

Primary fields of research

My projects focus on two main areas. First of all, I investigate macrophage phenotype composition in atherosclerotic plaques and compare this to in vitro macrophage models. Secondly, I investigate mechanisms underlying acceleration of atherosclerosis in relation to kidney disease. Here, I try to establish whether development of insulin resistance can be part of the explanation for the accelerated atherogenesis in kidney disease.
