Personal profile

Short presentation

Throughout my career, I have maintained a deep interest in phage biology and have +25 years of experience in revealing molecular mechanisms at the phage-bacteria interplay. Currently, I study phages infecting pathogenic bacteria associated with food production, food, and the animal gut including Salmonella and E. coli as well as antibiotic resistant ESBL.

Since 2013, I have been heading the internationally recognized PHAGEBio research group. The mission of PHAGEBio is to elucidate novel molecular mechanisms of phage biology and to develop biocontrol solutions to tackle society challenges associated to bacteria causing disease in human and animals. Since 2015, we have build large collections of phages and their hosts and to reveal novel understanding of phage-host interactions, phage biology as well as novel phage-based antimicrobials.

I have extensive management experience and I am formally educated in both project and research management and have a distinguished ability to motivate teams toward a common goal.
